Banking

Nickel Banking screen offering instant vendor payments, with an account balance beside it

Free instant vendor payments

Bills you pay from your Nickel Banking account now reach vendors instantly over real-time payments (RTP and FedNow) when their bank supports it, for free.

Same-day domestic wire transfers

Send a same-day domestic wire transfer to your vendor from your Nickel dashboard.

Free business banking with 2% APY

All Nickel users can now open a free Nickel Banking business account and begin earning 2% APY on account balances. Create multiple accounts, each with its own account numbers, statements, and cards, and make instant transfers between them.

Deposit checks online and apply them to invoices

Deposit a check online and apply it to several invoices at once. The check number syncs to QuickBooks as the payment reference.

Accounts Receivable

Recurring invoices list with two active customers paying by link

Recurring invoices and automatic payments by link

Set up recurring payments where each invoice in the series goes out as a new payment link so customers don’t need a saved card or bank account.

Invoice tracking and a faster invoice form

Track when a customer last opened each invoice. The form pre-fills the next invoice number, reads an uploaded invoice, and asks whether to send or charge a saved payment method.

Card-acceptance controls to avoid credit card fees

Turn off card payments for a specific customer to avoid credit card processing fees, and choose whether an authorization request asks for bank only, card only, or either.

Automated invoice and payment reminders

Set up custom payment reminder emails that go out to customers automatically before or after an invoice’s due date, with the payment link built in.

Bill Pay

Holiday-aware payment dates

Payment dates now automatically skip weekends and Federal Reserve bank holidays.

Approval workflow form requiring an administrator to approve payments over $500

Conditional approval workflows

Build a smarter AP and AR approvals workflows by setting conditional approval rules like “bills over X amount need a second approver” for your team. Conditional rules cover paying bills, invoices, sending an invoice, and charging a saved card.

Platform

Permission toggles for one team member, such as paying bills and issuing refunds

Custom user roles and permissions for teams and accounting firms

Create custom roles for every team member, bookkeeper, or accounting firm with access to Nickel. Set notifications, permissions, and access controls on a person-to-person basis.

Single sign-on (SSO) and stronger account security

Nickel Pro customers can now set up SSO themselves. Sessions now last up to 24 hours, and changing wire details or your payout bank requires a fresh two-factor authentication (2FA) code.

AI

More from Penny, Nickel’s AI finance assistant

Penny now confirms an action plan or offers alternatives, builds CSV and Excel reports, lists each action like a receipt, and approves queued requests in bulk.
