Frequently asked questions
What construction payment software works with QuickBooks?
Nickel integrates natively with both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. Invoices, payments, vendors, and chart of accounts sync both ways. When your customer pays a Nickel invoice, it closes in QuickBooks automatically. ACH is free through the integration, and there's no extra fee for connecting it.
Is Nickel free for trade contractors?
Yes, the Core plan is $0/month and includes unlimited free ACH, invoicing, payment links, and QuickBooks Online sync with a $25,000 per-transaction limit. If you need recurring invoices or autopay, Plus is $35/month. If you're invoicing over $1M per job, Pro is $300/month with a $1M per-transaction limit.
Can I use Nickel for both collecting payments and paying subcontractors?
Yes, Nickel handles both sides. On the AR side, you send invoices and collect payments from your customers. On the AP side, you pay subcontractors and vendors by ACH (free), card, wire, or check. Onboard subs through a secure link, or add them yourself if you already have their banking information.
Which trades is Nickel best for?
Nickel works for any trade that invoices customers and pays subcontractors or suppliers. The most common are HVAC, roofing, plumbing, electrical, general contracting, landscaping, and painting. But the platform works the same whether you're a framing subcontractor or a commercial paving company.
