Is there a catch with free ACH?
No. ACH is free on all Nickel plans. There's no catch and it's not a marketing gimmick. You can read more about our commitment to making ACH accessible and how Nickel makes money.
How much does Quickbooks charge for invoice payments vs. Nickel?
As of June 2026, Quickbooks Payments charges 1% per ACH payment and 2.99-3.5% for invoiced card payments. Nickel charges $0 for ACH and 2.9% flat for credit cards and syncs natively with Quickbooks Online and Desktop.
Does Nickel work with Quickbooks Online and Desktop?
Yes, Nickel syncs both ways with Quickbooks Online and Quickbooks Desktop. Invoices, payments, vendors, and chart of accounts stay matched automatically, with no extra fees for the integration.
Do my customers need a Nickel account to pay me?
No, your customers don't need a Nickel account to pay you. They simply enter their credit card or banking information to pay. You can read more about how our accounts receivable and accounts payable features work.
Can I send and receive large payments through Nickel?
Yes, Nickel is built for large transactions. Many of our customers are in construction, commercial services, and other industries where $50,000-$500,000 invoices are routine, and we've designed the platform specifically for that. On Pro ($300/month) and Plus ($35/month) plans, the per-transaction limit is $1M. On the free Core plan, it's $25,000.
Can I pay vendors with a credit card through Nickel?
Yes, you can pay any vendor by credit card at 2.9% through Nickel, even if that vendor doesn't accept cards directly. Nickel charges your credit card and sends the vendor an ACH, check, or wire. This is useful if you want to earn card rewards or extend your cash float by a billing cycle without changing anything on the vendor's side.
Is Nickel secure?
Yes. Nickel is SOC 2 Type II and PCI-DSS certified, and all payment data is encrypted. ACH payments run through the secure bank-to-bank network governed by NACHA and operated by the Federal Reserve, and by default the money goes straight to your bank account once it clears.
